More About Sonja

Growing up in Fresno, California, Sonja Bratton often felt unloved, insignificant, and rejected. Coming from a broken family, she struggled with a deep sense of loneliness and searched for a place where she truly belonged. Thankfully, Sonja's great-aunt, who was like a grandmother to her, introduced her to the comforting world of church, summer camps, and Vacation Bible School. Although these experiences brought a fleeting sense of peace, the weight of religious rules eventually caused her to lose interest and drift away.

In her search for love and acceptance, Sonja turned to relationships and found solace in the highs of drugs and alcohol. She believed that marriage, a prestigious job, a baby, and a new home would fill the void in her heart. Yet, even after marrying the man of her dreams in a second marriage and seemingly having everything she ever wanted, Sonja felt an undeniable emptiness, sensing that something was still missing.

The turning point in her life came during a women's retreat, where Sonja experienced God's presence for the first time. It was there that she discovered the love she had been yearning for, a love that filled every corner of her heart. This encounter with Jesus Christ was so profound and life-changing that she knew she could no longer settle for a mere once-a-year "retreat experience." Sonja wanted to experience this newfound fire and passion for God daily.

Recognizing that a close relationship with God required dedicated time spent alone with Him, Sonja initially struggled to incorporate this practice into her life. However, after hearing a message from Devi Titus about the concept of having "Yadah" with the Lord, Sonja was inspired to create a Prayer Basket—a personal tool to help guide her in deepening her relationship with God.

As Sonja embarked on this journey, she faced another challenge; her daughter was battling depression and addiction. This personal struggle prompted Sonja to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, during which God planted a seed of passion for the Tabernacle. This passion led to the development of the "Sanctuary Prayer," an analogy using the Tabernacle as a guide for prayer and drawing near to God. This practice transformed her life, and she felt called to share this gift with others.

Today, Sonja is happily married to Farmer Jim for 36 years and is the proud mother of two adult children and grandmother to four grandchildren. Her passion for Women's Ministries, facilitating Bible studies, and organizing Spiritual Makeover Retreats is fueled by her desire to reach those who are lukewarm or brokenhearted.

Sonja believes that while many encourage spending time with God, few offer practical guidance on how to do so. This realization has become the heart of her ministry: to interactively share the "Sanctuary Prayer," helping others hear God's voice, understand His will, feel His presence, and experience His boundless love. Through her ministry, Sonja continues to inspire and guide women on their spiritual journeys, offering them the same transformative love and peace she found in Christ.
